Does that help? Anonymous We were having the same issue(asking for credential 3 times) when using chrome. We are not a federated/SSO site but are using the directory sync tool with password sync. We finally figured out that if we point our user's to it works perfectly fine in chrome, no 3 login attempts or anything.
Originally we were pointing our users to portal.microsoftonline.com and have recently updated our links to the url. Hope this helps with federated sites as well. I'm interested both in getting things done as well as the process. Let's get IT done efficiently. I look at the forest AND the trees seeing the big picture is important to me, it provides a perspective you don't get from the trenches. I think IT is as much a creative exercise as a logical one. The process of designing an IT infrastructure to address business needs is complex, exciting and a fun challenge!. Teaching and mentoring is fundamental to consulting and I enjoy both.

Have a look at this statement from here: When a federated user signs in to access a Microsoft cloud service such as Office 365, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft Intune, the user is prompted unexpectedly to enter his or her work or school account credentials. After the user enters his or her credentials, the user is granted access to the cloud service. Note Not all federated user authentication experiences are without a credential prompt. In certain scenarios, it's by design and expected that federated users are prompted to enter their credentials. Make sure that the credential prompt is unexpected before you continue. And here is a nice article. I enabled Modern Authentication in my lab and where the prompts existed in the past, here are my results.
Mailbox is migrated from on-premises to o365 (Still prompts for a password). 2. Password is changed (no longer prompts for a password) 3. Setting up a new Outlook profile (no longer prompts for a password - unless password has been changed and the user has not logged out and back in). On-Premises Exchange is Exchange 2010 without OutlookAnywhere enabled (RPC/TCP only). I am not sure if that matters but those are the details of my current lab.
I would be curious what your experience is as I do not see it documented anywhere.
