At this point we should be clear that TeamViewer itself is a perfectly legitimate application. You should be able to block via port, or hostname. The blocking message gives clear instructions regarding making a request with LiveChat agents and this is targeted specifically to anyone that finds the TeamViewer site blocked - somewhat more targeted than an email to 4 million customers most of whom wouldn't be needing TeamViewer. In an surprise development broadband ISP TalkTalk has taken the decision to block the popular TeamViewer service from their UK network, which means that anybody wanting to use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) service will find themselves unable to connect.

it just wasn't ready to go pre-Christmas when the remote-access scams ramped up. In addition there's two-factor authentication available with the TeamViewer website again to ensure end users are afforded greater security.Īnd a good point about a TalkTalk link to opt-out which will be included in the MyAccount area any time now.

BLOCK TEAM VIEWER SOFTWARE
TeamViewer have provided enhanced security features now to lock down TeamViewer so it cannot so easily be used by scammers when the software is already installed on a computer. application monitoring has the signature for it, select the signature and block. The IP address range for TeamViewer is 178.77.120.0/24. This new firewall rule will disallow the directed connections to 178.77.120.0./24. You will now need to add a new rule for your Firewall. If they have different locations on each endpoint, Block like this.
BLOCK TEAM VIEWER PC
More often than not, we use TeamViewer to allow others to access our PC and perform various operations. Here, you will need to block access to the IP address range. If they are installed in Program Files, you can make a policy for all endpoints to block Anydesk/Teamviewer EXE in the firewall.
BLOCK TEAM VIEWER FREE
You could attempt to do this in a controlled situation and reviewing the logs to see what exactly the firewall is identifying the traffic that may help in understanding why your traffic isn't getting identified properly. My understanding is that TalkTalk and TeamViewer do actively co-operate in the fight against scammers. TeamViewer is a brilliant piece of software for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux. With this free for personal use software, one can establish a remote connection and control remote PCs with ease. If you aren't decrypting traffic then teamviewer falls back to tcp/443 instead of its default port of tcp/5938 and the firewall will allow the traffic as it can't tell what it is.

Generally in my experience the firewall is rather good at identifying teamviewer traffic and blocking it when you are decrypting traffic. Out of curiosity are you blocking all of the app-ids? You would either include the app-id container of 'teamviewer' and then 'teamviewer-web' or you would need to list out all 4 individually. To get this to work properly you would need to apply ssl-decryption. You have logs proving that the Teamviewer app-id is properly getting blocked when your security rule is applied then this would more then likely be due to traffic getting mis-identified, likely to 'ssl'.
